AAUW-Oak Ridge was organized in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 1951 and has operated continuously since that time. Males began to join in the 1990's. Students were also welcomed.
Mission: AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
Purpose: AAUW promotes equity for women, lifelong education, and positive societal change.
Membership: AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.
